The New Moon in Virgo occurs in Australia on September 15th at 11.40 am. Unless you have been hiding under a rock, most of us know we are experiencing some strange times. With seven planets in retrograde at the time of this New Moon and accompanying aspects to the Moon from Uranus and Neptune, we may spend the days either side of this lunation feeling some highs and lows.

I have indeed been witnessing some people really feeling the impact of so many planets in retrograde.

With this New Moon, it may still feel like we are on a roller coaster ride.

However, being in the sign of Virgo, we are reminded to reset, ground ourselves, take care of our physical and mental health and put some intentions in place for how we can move forward after this New Moon

This New Moon continues the feeling that our life is currently under review. Combined with the many retrograde planets, we are still circling, feeling like we are peddling perhaps but getting nowhere, like we are on an exercise bike; we keep moving but don’t go anywhere.

The good news is that after this New Moon, we begin to move forward as Mercury, the ruler of Virgo, moves direct the same day as this New Moon. We will hopefully feel this shift and find improved access to our mental, planning and communication faculties.

This New Moon will be aspected by Uranus, one of our many retrograde planets, and could make the ground beneath us feel a little less stable. Uranus likes to shake things up, and this can be a welcome energy, inspiring us with new and innovative ideas, especially around how we may want to approach the practical elements of our daily lives. On the flip side, given Uranus is still retrograde, we may feel our internal nervous system fire up.

For this reason, it is imperative to take special care of both our physical and mental health at this time.

Try to bring your focus to the practical ways you can ground yourself. I highly recommend going for a walk barefoot on the earth.

Neptune will also be coming into the equation of this New Moon, also in retrograde motion, which can draw us further into ourselves, our imaginations and intuitions but also into our illusions or delusions.

Some of us may feel like we are in a fog, and there may be some confusing elements surrounding us, so once again we are directed toward our inner realms, our inner wisdom.

Try to tap into this energy and perhaps float around in it for a while but note that we are probably best advised not to make major emotional decisions right now if we can avoid it. The most positive way to use this energy is to allow what comes up without too much attachment. Once our planets move forward again, we will gain more clarity and can begin to put some of the ideas and musings we may have had during this New Moon into action.

Given that the New Moon is in Virgo's sign, we are being asked to become more discerning. Virgo, in opposition to Pisces, offers us the powers of learning to create boundaries and to activate where we may need to set intentions around being more discriminating.

This New Moon can allow us to consider where we may need to become more practical and forthright around who we allow into our orbit.

This is a favourable time for thinking about where you may need to be more discerning in your daily life, in who you let into your life and how you deal with the influences of others or anything that brings toxicity into your life.

Virgo as energy is also about purifying, so this can be an excellent time to set new intentions around mental and physical health regimes.

'As an earth sign, I often consider Virgo energy as the archetypal herbalist or green witch-sourcing remedies for what ails us from nature around us.

This is an excellent time to set intentions around your physical and mental health and how nutrition and our diet can play a role in that.

Self-care is a theme here and can include the routines and rituals we incorporate into our daily lives. Freeing ourselves from overwhelming clutter and chaos can start in just the simplest of ways, one step at a time.

This is a brilliant time for a genuine spring clean on both a physical and mental level.

What needs to be thrown out and what needs to be brought in? What intentions can you set to help you feel more in control of your daily life and routines?

What can you do right now to bring in new routines and rituals that will improve your daily circumstances?

Remember, due to so many retrograde planets, don’t act too quickly; use this New Moon to come up with your new ideas but wait at least for a few days before putting things into action.

Mercury goes direct on the same day as this New Moon, but we will still be in a shadow period for a while. You may feel the impetus to move forward again from the 17th of September.

So hold on things will feel better after Mercury gets going again.

I am excited about this upcoming Full Moon in watery Pisces, which is the second Full Moon to occur during August, falling on August 31st in Australia at 11.35 am.

Here is the Full Moon Workbook to give you to complete download on this Full Moon

This Full Moon is Blue Moon and a Supermoon due to its closeness to Earth and, which I feel adds intensity to its power. We are more likely to all feel this Full Moon and, especially if you have planets in or around the 7-degree mark of Gemini, Virgo, Pisces and Sagittarius, I have both my Pisces Ascendant and Sag Sun close to these degrees, so for me, there will be some purging to be done. In addition to seven planets being retrograde, this is a time of delving within, turning our gaze inward to review, re-evaluate and of course, during a Full Moon release.

Let me know how you feel now, especially with so many retrograde planets. What is being stirred up within?

Welcome to Virgo Season. For this season, the vibe is very much life under review as we have an abundance of planets in retrograde, including Virgo's ruling planet Mercury. This is a delicious time to review your life and gain some new perspective.

VIRGO SEASON 2023

On August 23rd we move from the firey sign of Leo into earthy, practical Virgo. This Virgo season may, however, feel different to others. We have the ruling planet of Virgo, Mercury turning retrograde on the same day as the Sun moves into Virgo.

We may feel a fundamental shift away from the outward-flowing expressive energy of Leo toward a more introspective vibe.

This is especially accentuated as not only will Mercury be retrograde until the 15th, Venus is still retrograde until the 4th, and many if not all, the outer planets are either already retrograde or about to be.

This really means that we are more likely to feel the energies of this Virgo season in a more self-aware, reflective fashion; much more may be up for review, re-assessment and even renegotiation. This is not necessarily a time of doing, but more of going in and reviewing.

The theme this month, from my view, is to try not to push against the tide of what you may be feeling but to learn to go with the flow to tap into the opposite sign of Virgo, Pisces and relinquish some need for control and let the season play out as it will without trying to fight or control the energy.

Feelings of frustration may be prevalent around the 28th. Uranus turns retrograde in Taurus and the Sun forms an opposition to Saturn.

For a few days around this time, we may feel frustrated in our efforts to achieve our goals. We may feel restricted and come up against some roadblocks.

This is more of a time to look within and get in touch with the roadblocks we may place on ourselves, especially regarding areas surrounding how we approach the practical elements of our daily life.

On August 30th we will be asked to look for a balance between how we manage our practical and spiritual lives, as we experience the Full Moon in the watery sign of Pisces.

This duality revolves around service, how we serve ourselves, others and our spiritual life. This Full Moon period may offer us a time to reflect on where we may be over striving, analysing, exerting too much control and instead relaxing into a simpler path, letting go and surrendering to what is unfolding before us.

Virgo likes to carefully control, plan, strategise and execute the path to reach its goals.

However, This Virgo season may be harder to get a grip on accomplishing our goals. With so many planets in retrograde, this season is about taking stock, reviewing and re-assessing the Virgo-associated themes in our life, like our health, daily routines and work.

Rather than pushing forward, this Virgo season is all about review. Consider this your annual review period.

On September 4th there will be some relief, however, as Venus turns direct in Leo.

Venus has been retrograde for quite some time and has been a very focused period on our current and past relationships. We will now have more energy to activate and put into action what may have come up for us whilst Venus was retrograde. More than anything, we should be able to harness more self-value, self-love and appreciation.

The themes of self-love and growth may be emphasised on the 5th when Jupiter turns retrograde in Taurus. This can be a time to review once again our philosophies around how we use our material resources, including money and again to look within for new perspectives or beliefs that may be emerging around these themes.

We can move forward again, especially after September 15th, when Mercury turns direct.

This can be a positive time to put into action some of the aspects of life that have been under review whilst Mercury and many other planets have been retrograde.

This day also coincides with the New Moon in Virgo, a poignant time to now harness all things Virgo and put our plans into action, set some new intentions and get planning.

Virgo energy often gets a bad wrap in popular sun sign astrology for being the detailed, overly organised, nit-picky, critical zodiac sign. It is true, Virgo expressed in its most unconscious manifestation can very well behave like this, but at its core, Virgo is a sign that wants to improve. This energy has a critical eye, and they view the world from the lenses of being able to see what is wrong, with a genuine desire to improve it.

Virgo is a sign most willing to grow within themselves, always looking for a way to better themselves and the environment around them. Considering this, this is the season to review our lives on a practical, everyday level. This includes our health, our daily routines, the little details and of course getting organised. However, this season we may feel like there is a veil over our traditional organised Virgo energy. Where our heads may be willing, our energy may not be able to match our desires to sort, sift and organise our lives.

Virgo season offers is an excellent time to review our work life, where we may be exerting too much control in our life and our daily habits that can be affecting our physical and mental health and how we may be able to make some positive changes, especially around the New Moon period.
