Mercury Goes Retrograde in Gemini. May 29- June 20th

For the second time this year, Mercury turns retrograde and this time in the sign it rules, the mutable air sign of Gemini

What does this mean?

Basically it appears as though Mercury is moving backward in the sky. On a symbolic level this means the areas Mercury usually rules over, such as communication, intellect, connection and technology don’t function in their usual way. These areas are now more internalised.

On a practical level mercury moving retrograde can place a serious disruption on how we manage and deal with these aspects on a daily basis. However Mercury retrograde also offers us the opportunity to reflect and internalise this energy rather actively use it. We are really given the opportunity to review, reconnect, renew, and learn, so it is certainly not all bad, it is about re adjusting expectations on our mental capacity.

Mercury retrograde offers us opportunity to access more of our intuitive mind rather than logical mind. It is a particularly potent time for heightened dreams, so take note of what your dreams are telling you during this period, there are often messages delivered to us in our dream states now.

Gemini as an energy is all very mentally active, always moving, sharing ideas, connecting, communicating and thinking. Gemini likes to be busy. Mercury going retrograde now will affect Gemini and the other mutable signs, of Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces the most significantly with the addition of Virgo as it is also ruled by Mercury. This is a period where the mental thought structures may become easily scattered, disorientated and less likely to focus with the same degree as usual. Therefore its a great idea, if you can, to offer some leniency to the expectations you place on your mental faculties and have a break from really strenuous mental work, if you can.

Gemini is also incredibly active, running around piecing things, people and connections together. During this period the running around is less likely to bring the results you need.

When Mercury goes retrograde, we need to be aware that what we wish to communicate may feel restrained or potentially be miscommunicated. I encourage you therefore to ensure your messages are well thought out, clear and understood by the recipient.

Technology can frustrate us more than usual with Mercury retrograde. This is the period in which your lap top decides to have a malfunction, the software you rely on suddenly has glitches and you experience delays in all manners of transportation. I highly recommend checking your car is in good working order at this time.

Being aware of these energies can lessen our frustration as we are certainly in line to experience all kinds of unexpected and unplanned events, the best advice is to attempt to just go with the flow of it all. If you have had travel plans, these may be seriously disrupted, especially if you are currently living in Melbourne, Australia. We literally went into lock down as Mercury turned retrograde. Make sure you allow for flexibility if you can and allow a little more time either side to get to and from your destination.

If you can avoid signing contracts at this time, it is advisable. If you can not then ensure you go over the fine print again and again and ask plenty of questions.

On June 10th Mercury being retrograde in Gemini will be heightened as we experience a solar eclipse conjunct Mercury.

This will be an excellent time for second chances and pursuing new opportunities. I will write more about this specifically at the time.

Meanwhile, make sure you consciously remember where you parked your car, put your keys and back up your files. Above all, listen carefully and make sure you really understand what is being communicated to you and that you equally communicate your messages as clearly as you can.

Blood Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius. May 26th 2021

This week we will have the blood, full moon lunar eclipse in Sagittarius that will occur on 26th May at 9.12 pm in Australia and be followed up with Mercury turning retrograde on the 29th.

A full moon, represents the energy of release, of letting go, things coming to an end to make way for something new.

It is also a blood moon, meaning the moon is literally physically closer to the earth, so the impact of its energies will be felt more, AND it is also a lunar eclipse. Lunar Eclipses are when the earth is literally sandwiched between the sun and the moon, and in astrological terms, eclipses are important because they elevate and amplify the energy of the full moon; things are sped up, accelerated.

The moon is in is Sagittarius, in opposition to the sun in Gemini. What will this mean? For a start, this full moon will be most poignant for anyone with the Sun, Moon or ascendant in Sagittarius and Gemini and will also be felt by the other mutable signs of Virgo and Pisces. It occurs at 5 degrees Sagittarius, so those of you who know your chart, check to see where that falls as that will be the area that gets activated at this time.

At its most basic level, this full moon asks us to look at what needs to be changed or adjusted in a Sagittarian way.

Sagittarian energy at its essence is about expanding the consciousness of understanding and belief via our philosophies and spirituality, education and or travel. These are connected in that each one in its own way broadens the mind to take in new ideas, new experiences and ultimately assists us in understanding the world and our place in it.

Sagittarius is a truth seeker and astrologically a strong influence in how we structure our belief systems, philosophies, ideas. In this regard, the full moon energy alone asks us to look at our belief systems, our relationship with our spirituality, our perspectives, and at a base level, what we believe to be true.

This is a period of letting go of what no longer serves you or what is no longer accurate in your belief, philosophical and truth systems. Is there something you have believed about yourself that perhaps is no longer true, and you hold onto outdated beliefs that you have constructed or have subconsciously constructed from family or societal expectations of you? Time to question if these beliefs, your inner dialogues are honest and whether they are healthily serving you and whether you need them any longer. If you don't, this is the time to let them go.

This eclipse is about looking at the 'shoulds' we all surround ourselves with. It's about looking at the belief or spiritual structures we are told to believe by our family; for examples, it's about examining our judgement of ourselves and others and determining if these still serve us. It can be a time of opening up and facing those things we have been afraid to confront or what we have been afraid of doing for fear of doing the wrong things in the eyes of others.

This eclipse is about setting yourself free of limiting beliefs, shoulds and fears. Sag as energy is all about inspirational growth via expanding one's ideas, beliefs and philosophies, growth by education and travel where we are exposed to new and exciting ideas.

Judgement and living via others expectations shut down growth, and Sagittarius energy needs to grow continually. This eclipse will shine a lunar light on anything that helps us understand the world and ask us to question it without our rose coloured glasses on.

The eclipse is about changing the way you are growing and planting new seeds for inner growth.

Starting from now, you could begin to ask yourself all these questions, take a look within and re-assess. If you discover old held beliefs that no longer work for you, write them down and then safely burn the list to let it go, then during the new moon lunar eclipse that occurs in a few weeks, you can begin to write the intentions for the new growth, new direction, new beliefs that will help you to grow

Occurring at the same period as the eclipse, we have the ruling planet of Sagittarius, Jupiter in the sign of Pisces. This symbolically asks us to let go and be transparent about what is 'real' and 'not real' for us. This is harder to do than say as we are often so imbued with our stuff that we can't see the trees for the forest. It could be worth thinking about being brave enough to ask those who know you best, to be honest with you about where they feel this may be happening for you.

Ultimately this is about self-forgiving and self-accepting who you were and who you will be. Eclipses are about change, so change does need to occur., so get cleaning out and releasing old parts of ourselves to make way for the new.

Sagittarius ultimate endpoint is always to find meaning in life- meaning in both the smallest and most significant ways. Use this time to assess what brings real meaning to your life… for now… as this process is an ever-evolving one as we traverse life's path. One day you are convinced you have the meaning of life all worked out, only to have an event or circumstance propelling you toward a completely different truth and meaning; the process is endless.

A few days after this full moon eclipse, our friend Mercury who is currently at home in the sign of Gemini, turns retrograde, appearing to turn backwards in the sky. When Mercury is retrograde, lots of things like computers not working, happen but on an inner level, we can review, reconnect and re-examine Gemini types of qualities, like our communications, connections and potentially find information and learnings where we may not be expecting them. Of course, this is also a time to check the details, dotting the i's crossing your t's. Attempt to avoid contract signings and or negotiations, and with other planetary influences around the same time, if something appears too good to be true, it probably is. This is not a time to look at life through rose coloured glasses.

A lot is going on now, and this energy will be challenging for some, but remember it can bring real opportunity to help see your world differently. Sun Moves Into Gemini

Happy Gemini season. I hope we are all ready for quite a change of pace as the sun moves into Gemini on May 21st in Australia. We are stepping it up a few notches and have to get off the Taurus couch metaphorically, get moving, communicating and doing. Unlike Taurus season, which is all about partaking in the hedonistic pleasures of our physical senses, Gemini season asks us to move to our mental realm, get thinking, communicating and connecting.

This Gemini season will be felt most by those with sun, moon or ascendants in the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sag and Pisces. In particular, there could be some life-enhancing big moments for these energies when we experience a full moon lunar eclipse in Sagittarius on May 26th. I will be commenting more about that closer to the time.

From the onset of the sun moving into Gemini, it will be making square energy to Jupiter, which has moved into Pisces, until May 28th. We need to be aware of a tendency to exaggerate things at this time, whether it be in the public sphere or personally. This is an energy that could easily cause us to make sweeping statement claims, not check the details, put one's foot in our mouth, or insist on something without checking one's facts first. Given Gemini is the sign of communication, this square to Jupiter can create mixed messages, so be clear on your intent, check your facts and think before you speak.

Gemini is all about growth via learning and sharing ideas, multi-tasking, stimulating one's

mind, and both mentally and physically feel alive. Therefore this is an excellent time to engage with the world in an intellectual and curious way. Suppose there are curiosities you would like satiated. In that case, this is the time to open the doorway to exploring new ideas, reading that book you've been meaning to read, listening to that new podcast, writing that blog or simply exploring new ideas with others. Don't be surprised if you don't follow through to the end; the Gemini energy is dualistic in nature and can become easily distracted by the next thing on the horizon.

Networking is the natural domain of Gemini energy. Networking is not only bout social context but networking concerning ideas or literal computer connectivity. You will find many a Gemini behind the logistics of computer software, bringing ideas, concepts and information to the world. Connections are part of networking, and Geminis are brilliant at making and nurturing connections. These are the people who will tell you; I know someone you should meet, to help with…….. and next thing you know, a meeting has been set up. This is an excellent time if you can get out and about and meet new and exciting people. Networking may be as simple as knowing what is going on in your immediate community or environment. In fact, this is a great time for exploring your immediate neighbourhood and community, even if you may think you have done that to the extreme during restrictions.

You may be more able to see both sides of any story or discourse during the Gemini season. Gemini is dualistic by nature, so this is an excellent period if you need to understand something from someone else's perspective. Attempt to actively listen to what others are saying to gain a real understanding of their perspective, enabling you to expand your awareness. This will be especially important during the full moon Luna eclipse in Sagittarius, which is all about expanding one's knowledge and philosophical perspective.

Given Gemini energy is about communication, this is also a good time to literally 'find your voice' to express your inner-thinking and perhaps convey ideas you have thus far not expressed. Attempt to do this before the ruling planet of Gemini, Mercury goes direct on the 29th of the month. Mercury going retrograde is going to dampen the Gemini impetus until June 21st. So get your computer fixed, your car serviced, your contracts signed, and your messages out there before Mercury goes retrograde

If you have been thinking of upgrading your mobile phone, getting a new computer or changing service providers or getting your hands on that new gadget, this is the time to do so. As the ruler of communication, this includes all gadgets that enable that process, but make sure it is done before Mercury goes retrograde

What I love most about Gemini is the energy has a Peter Pan quality about it, the forever child who loves to play, be the trickster and can make a joke about anything. They usually love children and young people, are usually young at heart throughout their lives, laughing and being lighter in spirit. So use this time to lighten up, play a little more, see the funny side of life and learn not to take things so seriously.

Make sure to avoid some of the shadow sides of Gemini energy during this season which can include scattering one's energies, being inattentive, superficial or highly strung. Enjoy the energy to get your mental work done, write that piece you have meant to write, say and communicate those messages
