The Sun moves into the fixed water sign of Scorpio on October 24th in Australia. It is no coincidence that Halloween, originally known as Samhain in the Northern Hemisphere, where the Sun began to descend and the darker months began, occurs during Scorpio season. Of course, this is not the case in the Southern Hemisphere. Still, it is desirable to use the metaphor of descending into the dark as we explore the upcoming Scorpio season and explore all that Scorpio entails.
Scorpio as energy represents some of the absolute facts of life that we mainly consider taboo or don't talk openly about. This includes death, money, sex and power.
The Scorpio experience deals with as honestly as possible all that life entails, including the darker parts of life and human nature, and this is what this Scorpio season will ask of us.
Those with planets in fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius are being asked to delve deep, feel and deal with what has been potentially lurking beneath the surface. On a collective level, keeping our cool will not be so easy. Scorpio season will now be stirring up the Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus square aspects that we have been dealing with collectively and for some, personally, all year, and we can expect to get deep, dark and potentially dirty.
On the 31st, the day after Halloween, the Sun is joined by Mars in Scorpio. The Sun will also make square energy to Saturn in Aquarius. Scorpio is ruled by Mars, the God of War, and Pluto, God of the Underworld. Together as rulers of this water sign, they bring up emotions from the surface and act upon them, sometimes with intense fury, coercive control and manipulations. At its highest level, Scorpio intends to transform from one state to another.
We can expect our personal and collective emotions to be activated now and come at loggerheads. All year we have been experiencing the restriction of movement and freedom with Saturn in Aquarius and the breaking down and breaking through of our systems and structures with Uranus in Taurus. Now, in Scorpio season, any pent up, deeply held emotions that have not been able to surface will need to be dealt with and ultimately transformed into a higher frequency that hopefully serves our personal and collective needs.
The fighting instinct, passion, and drama will be accelerated with Mars joining the Sun in Scorpio It is dramatically intensified on November 5th with the new Moon joining Mars and the Sun in Scorpio whilst it opposes Uranus Aquarius. Expect the unexpected, especially watch for emotional outbursts and pent up collective energy to come forth like a volcano.
If the sign of Scorpio asks anything from us, it is to face our darker parts as honestly as possible, and this season will be a time to dig deep. We need to be aware that sometimes we find feelings that we may not be comfortable facing or handling, but rather than repressing or suppressing, we are asked to face the fear of confronting our shadows.
It is Scorpios penetrative depths that ironically also leads to their reputation of not trusting. Scorpio doesn't believe that what you display on a superficial level is the truth; hence their trust issues stem from a deep knowing that everyone has secrets and skeletons in the closet. We can use this period to work on any trust issues we may have personally. What is it we don't trust and why? These themes will be explored in more detail during the New moon and full moon phases
Scorpio's most evolved perspective is about transformation, the shedding of the old to make way for the new. Scorpio represents death but with it rebirth. We may be able to ask ourselves, especially during this new Moon, what we wish to transform and how we want it to look and feel. This may be an important question for the collective now- how do we want our new world to look and feel, how do we want our collective communities and governing institutions to look and feel? If we are re-emerging from a dark place over the last few years, how should the new world look and feel, and how do these events transform our personal lives?
There may be a powerful sense of impulsiveness and unpredictability at this time, which of course, could become a source of conflict. However, we are still being asked to find an emotionally deep balance between our personal and collective needs.
Emotions may feel a little crazy around this period, so I suggest being mindful of the energies at play and waiting for this potentially turbulent time to pass before making any hasty or rash decisions, especially around the 5th and 6th. We are being asked to trust our feeling realms and learn to balance them with our intellect.
The intensity may soften a little after the 6th when Venus moves from firey Sagittarius into the more stable and pragmatic sign of Capricorn.
On the 7th, however, Mercury moves into Scorpio as well. Mercury in Scorpio likes to dig deep to penetrate beneath the surface of any information. We may discover some 'untruths' during this period, both personally and collectively. Either way, communications with others take on a more intense flavour. With Saturn making a challenging aspect to Mercury and Mars on the 11th, we may feel a contradiction between pushing ourselves forward, saying and acting how we want to, and a part of us that is compelled to hold ourselves back.
The Full Moon occurs in Taurus on the 19th, bringing Mars in opposition to Uranus and the Sun in opposition to the Moon. Again themes of unexpected turbulence is in the air, emphasising and accentuating the Scorpio Taurus polarities of keeping the peace vs emotional outbursts, security and the status quo vs crisis. It is undoubtedly going to be an exciting time
